Join me at two supurb SharePoint conferences this summer and fall! I'll be speaking at Microsoft's upcoming SharePoint Conference 2011, as well as next week'sSharePoint Fest in Chicago. I spoke at SharePoint Fest in Dallas this past spring and it was a great event. SPC11 is sure to blow your socks off... and like with the previous conferences is sure to be the premier conference of year (and 2012 too).

Below are the sessions I'm presenting on at SPC11:
Session Title: Deploying SharePoint 2010 in Private and Public Cloud Architectures
Speaker(s): Phillip Wicklund
Level: 200
Abstract:
Creating a cloud-based SharePoint solution doesn’t necessarily mean going outside your datacenter’s walls. A private cloud, for example, means you have your own infrastructure in your own datacenter, but yet you benefit from all the automation, auto-scaling, and self-healing capabilities that the public cloud promises. Another option is to have a hybrid cloud, or a combined cloud, where portions of you SharePoint content is in a private cloud, and the rest are in the public cloud. Come to this session to see how private and public clouds compare, and what features or business cases lend themselves to each, or perhaps a combination of each. Also, we’ll talk in detail around what a private cloud is as well as technologies that support a private cloud, such as Hyper-V, Systems Center, and the multi-tenancy features of SharePoint 2010.
Session Title: Planning Identity with SharePoint Online
Speaker(s): Phillip Wicklund
Level: 200
Abstract:
Security in the cloud is a significant topic. Cloud customers want to know their options, including managing cloud based accounts, partner accounts, domain controller co-location, active directory synchronization, as well as creating a federation trust between a local ADFS 2.0 service and SharePoint Online. This session will compare the pros and cons of each approach, which approaches work for standard versus dedicated, as well as step by step guidance on how to setup the trusts. Additionally, the session will cover general security administration within the SharePoint Online interface.
Session Title: Search and metadata - a match made in heaven
Speaker(s): Phillip Wicklund
Level: 200
Abstract:
Search and metadata is probably the most under-utilized technique for getting a SharePoint data. The unfortunate thing is this isn’t because there’s not potential; in fact the search APIs for SharePoint Search and FAST for SharePoint will blow your hair back with what’s possible. This session will provide a primer into the search APIs, as well as demo a real world example of an EAP system built on SharePoint that surfaces tens of thousands of documents to users via the KeywordQuery API.

Below is the session I'm presenting at SharePoint Fest Chicago:
WF 101 - Leveraging External Data Sources in your SharePoint Designer Workflows
Phil Wicklund - Invited Speaker - Author
There are many scenarios where a business process needs to leverage an external data source to do what it needs to do. With SharePoint 2010, and the new Business Connectivity Services capabilities, performing data access against external sources is now possible. Come to this session to see how to take your SharePoint Designer workflows into this new frontier!
